Apprenticeships - header image

You Gov research in 2022, revealed that 96% of Britons viewed apprenticeships as 'better or as good' as university degrees in preparing people for the world of work.¹ University is no longer the universal choice and for good reasons. Earn while you learn apprenticeships are freeing people from the burden of university debt and providing 'hands-on knowldege" of the specialist skills needed to excel in work and progress through the ranks. A two year apprenticeship can deliver a sector-ready head start, enabling apprentices to shine and be selected for fast-track progression opportunities. Add to that the hybrid opportunities of studying for a degree whilst also working as an apprentice and it's easy to see why an apprenticeship is a shrewd decision. Plus, for more experienced workers, often with family and economic commitments, an apprenticeship offers study without sacrifice in terms of salary, increasing their knowledge and accelerating their career prospects.

For MP Skills, we believe in apprenticeships founded on supporting the sector. Delivering the bespoke skills industry needs to maximise operations. Giving the learner a professional and engaging experience where they can share their knowledge with their cohort and experience best in class working practices via visible felt learning (VFL) days, networking in partnership with operators to demonstrate modern processing methods and challenges. By professional mentoring and collaboration our Level 2 Mobile and Static Plant Operator Apprenticeship is a two-year programme of tailored modules specifically designed to embed knowledge and widen horizons. Successful completion of the apprenticeship results in a Level 2 Vocational Qualification in Mineral Processing Mobile and Static Plant Operator.

The programme covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Safety and personal accountability
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Products and quality knowledge
  • Sustainability
  • Geotechnical & Quarry Regulations
  • First Level Inspections and Maintenance

For employers, working with MP Skills adds a valuable classroom dimension, where your cohort can take time to benefit from the expertise of our industry trainers, who each understand what it takes to succeed and who keep up to date with regulations and technology.  We work hard to bring out their personalities and passions, helping them to understand the vital roles they perform and develop confidence in communication as well as technical skills. An environment of like-minded support. The opportunity to become a better, more productive member of the team in a professional and safeguarded space. Many of our apprentices go on to gain promotions and extra responsiblities as a result of the course and its benefits.
