Who should attend?

For people who: Are appointed to manage a clay quarry and are interested in the application of the Quarries Regulations and ACOP in relation to managing a clay quarry Want knowledge when overseeing geotechnical aspects Are involved in aspects of geo-technics and quarry design for managing clay quarries


To provide course members with: Understand the meaning of the terms; Regulations, Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) and Guidance and their legal status: Be able to refer to and interpret specific parts of the Regulations and ACOP The information and skills to manage geotechnical aspects of their work in clay quarries effectively; To take an active role in clay quarry design The maintenance of a safe geotechnical environment throughout the life of a clay quarry

Module 2: Procedures for design, safe working and inspection of excavations, tips and stockpiles

  • Geotechnical assessments

Duration and Delivery Options

Day 1 - Day 3: Based in a training room. Tutorial input; Group exercises; DVD ; Fieldwork. There are four assessments including: 2 multiple‐choice assessments Two practical written tests Successful completion of the course leads to a Level 4 Award in Geotechnical Knowledge for Quarrying Management or an MPQC Certificate of Achievement
