Aims

To provide course members with: An awareness of geotechnical hazards who work within or close to tips and excavations

Content

The course includes:

  • Reasons, roles and responsibilities
  • Geotechnical issues and an outline understanding of hazards in excavations
  • Geotechnical issues and an outline understanding of hazards in tips
  • Designs, inspections and working methods

The HSE has reviewed the content within this course.

The course can be tailored to suit the particular mineral deposit: hard rock, sand and gravel, opencast coal, china, ball clay, etc.
