Supervisors; Operatives and all personnel who require knowledge of the procedures for safe operation and inspection of excavations, tips and stockpiles; People who carry out geotechnical inspections in the workplace.

Aims

To provide course members with: Knowledge and skills required to understand and carry out their responsibilities for the implementation of safe working procedures in relation to excavations, tips and stockpiles; The ability to conduct workplace inspections

  • Causes of instability in rock slopes
  • Causes of instability in stockpiles
  • Lagoons
  • Rockfall and control measures
  • Geotechnical assessments
  • Inspections and record keeping
  • Working practices
  • Legal compliance

Duration and Delivery Options

Based in a training room. Short lectures; Group discussions; Workplace inspections’ exercise. Successful completion of the course leads to a Level 3 Award in Geotechnical Knowledge for Quarrying Supervision (QCF)
